Was just on FB discussing care and storage of equipment and was wondering what everyone here does to maintain their stuff in good working condition. Personally if I remember after an event I let leathers and wool dry and brush off all dirt. Leather I then rub in Saddlesoap to moisten and deep clean leather and then store. When I take it out for the next event I apply either dubbin or mink oil depending on the article. Jackboots I give a quick black polish followed by a heavy application of Mink Oil. Keeps them nice and supple. Mmmm supple jackboots....

Cloth/wool - a brush and that's about it. i never wash my uniforms bits, the exception being underwear/shirts. Those I do launder - hang dry. Leather, well, I'm a big believer in Snoseal, not only as a waterproofing, but as a leather conditioner. I find it soaks right in and keeps things pliable. This last weekend's game soaked my boots and my over trousers. The latter will be dried and put away filthy. The former are in the process of drying. Thereafter, a stiff brush and snoseal!

Marines don't take care of anything till it falls off or crawls off, then we burn it and get a new one.
One nice thing about the US kits I have is no heavy wools, very little leather(mostly just pistol holsters and slings) which have a pretty hardy finish on them and need some conditioner like once a year. The rest of the leather I have is boots. Rough outs need to just be rinsed or brushed off, and my para boots I just wash off and treat about once a year.
All the gear just gets a brush off and good to go, and I wash the uniforms about as often as I cant stand to put them back on.

Frickin' Yanks. Haha
All my gear was just cleaned with saddle soap, hit with polish and mink oil. I agree Schuler, nothing better than supple boots and those boots are supple now.
Helmet and uniform is still as dirty as ever. Let it fall to pieces like the originals! The QM will find more (or fur me, das war ist over).
Buttons are still a sore point and I find myself reattaching the stock ones with lots and lots of thick strong thread.
