Hey folks, So whats on the plate for 2014 events? It seems that there isn't much going on these days which is too bad. Is there a lack of folks interested, perhaps some more advertising, hosting easy day skirmishes to show folks the ropes? I'd love to do more WW2 events this year.

Hey Dave, glad to have you on board.
Yeah things have been pretty slow with not a lot of interest in the WW2 scene around here it seems. Skirmish days get some low to moderate attendance but the sim side of things is worse!! We thought the bolt action moly game would draw some interest but that seemed to do quite the opposite unfortunately. We're rescheduling but as of yet no definitive date has been selected.
In terms of skirmish days they do not too bad but unfortunately doesn't seem to draw the crowd that would be interested in the WW2 scene, just the guys who wear runners and Yankees ball caps it seems.

I hope things do pick up this year. I am REALLY wanting to get in on the WW2 stuff. Unfortunately so far for me it's been difficult due to work schedules, distance and funds. I thought that the bolt action only game sounded like a great idea! I didn't sign up however cause I don't have a bolt action or a pistol, I only have my Thompson and even then only have 1 hi-cap and 1 60rnd low-cap. I am planning on building a lee-enfield at some point though, just gotta get the parts and pieces first (funds issues). I am probably going to work on getting a uniform together first though. All that being said I fully plan on participating in events this year.
I am hoping that with nicer weather, more people come to do the WW2 stuff. It really is super cool. It sure would be nice to have solid bunch of groups like in ontario.

I was interested in the single bolt action game as I have a single shot Russian as well as an st 44. Uniforms are costly with all the gear.

Arg, well I'm here now. I've been out of town for most of this year, but no new Work Deployments on the horizon. Itching for some fun.
Hey Tom, no worries. Piece together what you can. The goal is to strive for some very excellent impressions, but in the mean time, I don't care if it's plan OD (I do have my feelings hurt with modern camo, and plate carriers though).

Ya... It's been a tad sparse. I was hoping for much better traction on the WWII BA game, but alas... I'm hoping to resched later in the summer. In the meantime, there's the D-Day game in Edmonton. We'll try and get some skirmishing going on Saturdays at Warpaint - those sessions seem to bring at least a few folks out, though the early start times tend to mess with people's hangovers ;-) We'll post to JOC and on the Alberta Airsoft WWII FB page. TOM - keep your eyes peeled for USED gear and uniforms. You can often pick up decent or at least passable stuff at a fraction of the cost of new.

Well we could have a lot of volksturm and partians running around. Needless to say uniformity would go to hell as well as the weapons. But it may attract people who have no interest at this time and after seeming the period gear might begin to purchase the items. In time and with patience the sneakers and ball caps will disappear and be replaced with the proper items. With luck a better selection of WW2 weapons will appear in local vendor shops with prices that will make the numerous ak's and m16'disappear. Just dreaming the most numerous weapon is the Thompson and it is probadly one of the cheapest out there. As a kid we started playing war with sticks and in time they were replaced with cap guns that looked like thompsons, mp40's M1's with odds and ends of military kit. If kids could do this how about adults The ramblings of an old panzer soldier.

LOL, that does happen at the bigger games. Allied side is : Thompson, Thompson, sten, Thompson Thompson , some loser in Marine stuff with a BAR, more Thompsons, another sten, an M1 and then even more Thompsons followed closely by a whole bunch more Thompson, sometimes with a few grease guns thrown in. Not that the Axis is much better. A whole lot of MP44s, a decent number of MP40s, an MG42 or two, a couple of Kar98s, and an Italian boltie or SMG. There are a few guns for each side, but people used to playing with modern guns don't wanna give up their spray and pray feature so they end up with high performing SMGs in numbers no one but the Russians or the FSSF ever fielded them in.

I'm guilty of that...
Although, I keep my STG-44 on semi-auto as often as I can. I like the control better,

Bullet-hoses FTW! But really, this is why I so desperately want to run a BA and handgun game... Ramp up that intensity a bit.

Yeah, I cant say much either, but in my defense I do sorta run the support gunner role, though in airsoft it is sorta backwards. Instead of being about how many rounds you put out so others in your squad can move it becomes more about makin all the incoming rounds come towards you so your squad can move. Or maybe I am doin it wrong.

Usually the mg crews in the real world attracts all the lead as well as trying to suppress firers of the incoming rounds. Never an easy job for the mg crew. Your doing it right.
