February 1945 - The Allied advance pushes towards the heart of Germany with every passing day. The small village of Kriegsbemalung lies a few miles outside of the larger urban center of Kuh-Stadt, but is a central artery for pushing further into Germany. Local resistance fighters on the ground indicate that an informant, with vital information on German defence networks and troop buildups within Germany, has been holed up in Kriegsbemalung in an attempt to rendezvous with Allied forces. As much as the town is important to its positioning on the front for both sides, the intel is also a considerable objective that must be obtained. For the Allies, the town and intel can mean a swift advance into Germany and end the war sooner, and for the Axis it could spell the end of all hope for the Third Reich. Both Allied and Axis forces are to capture the town, hold off any counter attack, and retrieve and extract the intel at all costs. The hammer will fall on Kriegsbemalung with high cost. God speed and good luck!
The Game
The game will be hosted at the Warpaint airsoft field just south east of Calgary on February 21st, 2015. Arrive for 10:00 am, field fee is $20 I believe.
There are several objectives to the game, but to simulate a real full battle the game will be split into 3 phases. Depending on how the day progresses, we can take breaks in between each phase to reload, hydrate, etc. or pound through it.
Phase 1: Fight for Kriegsbemalung!
The first phase will be conducted with each side starting on either side of the town. There are 3 flags in 3 different buildings, and they must be raised to signify which team controls the different parts of town (Blue for Axis, Yellow for Allies). At the end of 20-30 minutes, whoever controls the most flags has captured the town. Unlimited lives.
Phase 2: Counter Attack!
The second phase will be dependent on which team captured the town in the first phase. Whoever captured the town will now have to defend the town from counter attacks. To represent exhausted troops and smaller numbers, the people defending the town will have limited lives, most likely 2. The attacking team will have unlimited lives. The defenders will have to survive 20 minutes. At the end of the 20 minutes, if there are any defenders left in the town, the town remains in their control.
Phase 3: Extract the Intel!
The third phase will be also tied to the second phase, depending on which team had control of the town at the end of the last phase. Starting in the town, the intel, either in the form of a bag, crate, or actual "spy", will now have to be extracted to a secure zone. The other team will have to intercept the intel from being extracted in the form of ambushes and blockades. The other team will not know where the extraction point is. The phase will end after 20-30 minutes or if the extraction team manages to secure the intel.
I was also planning on adding a "bleed out" element to this, where when someone gets shot, they must yell "HIT!", fall to the ground, and wait to be healed by a fellow soldier. Every player will carry a long kill rag that can be tied around someone's arm or gun barrel. The wounded soldier can not do anything to help the healing process. Once the kill rag is tied on to the wounded players arm or gun, they are good to go and back in the fight!
***please post if you can make it to the game and what side you'll represent.
