The Battle of Hürtgen Forest has been raging since September with no end in sight. It is now becoming one of the most drawn out battles of the entire war and casualties are mounting with each passing day. The Allies are pushing relentlessly, but the advance is slow due to heavy German resistance. Small towns encountered in the forest become kill zones. The town of Schmidt is no exception to the devastation. Piles of rubble and gore only serve to remind the living that they are next to fall in this hellish place. Fighting is fierce and every house is paid for in blood. The Allies must hold Schmidt from counter attacks and continue the advance into Germany. German forces are to drive out the invaders away from the Siegfried line and defend the Fatherland at all costs!
The Game
We shoot each other with the ferocity described above in bloody house to house fighting. This may well be the last game of 1944 *cough* I mean 2015, so let's make this count!
Rules
Standard Airsoft Rules:
1. Eye wear is a must and face protection is strongly recommended, do not remove when in play.
2. No blindfiring, must aim down gun sights to shoot.
3. No shooting through holes smaller than your fist.
4. Apply Mercy rule at 10 feet or less
5. No guns over 500 FPS
6. Real steel knives must remain in sheath when in play.
7. When in doubt, call yourself out and play honestly
8. Dead players cannot talk ie about enemy positions!
Uniform Rules:
Try to wear period WW2 uniforms. This game won't be as strict as some of the other ones I've planned. A little WW2 kit is better than no kit! That being said, please no modern tactical vests or equipment. Try wearing a satchel or webbing (pouches on a belt, can be supported with shoulder harnesses) to carry your ammo. Just try to show that you put a little effort in and all will be good. A Civilian Resistance/Collaborator outfit will also work and are very cheap to put together at a local thrift shop.
Axis: Period uniforms. Modern German Flecktarn is acceptable. Can also wear blue or grey colours.
Allies: Period uniforms. Can also wear green or brown colours.
Weapon and Ammo Rules:
The only modern guns that are acceptable are AK47's (due to their resemblance to STG44's), pistols, shotguns, and bolt action rifles. Please try to avoid any other type of post-WW2 firearm, but if an M4 is all you have, then exceptions can be made, but please ask first. No gun mounted lasers, flashlights, optics (except a scope on sniper rifles), or other accessories, iron sights only!
All SMG's and Assault Riles will be limited to roughly 30 rounds in a mag. This can easily be done by plunging a speed loader 10-12 times as they usually spit out 3 rounds at a time. All other weapons can carry whatever their mags can hold (LMG's, bolt action rilfes, pistols, etc.). Mid capacity magazines are strongly encouraged, but if a high cap is all you have, then please remove the mag when you "wind" the spring. Speed loaders can be brought into battle and reloading can occur anywhere, but keep in mind you can still be shot when reloading in battle!
Grenades:
Thunder B sound grenades and Tornado grenades are strongly encouraged to clear out buildings. If a grenade lands in a building, that entire floor is neutralized, even if you are hiding in a closet! This will make the threat of grenades a little more real and useful.
Smoke Grenades:
Also really useful for messing with the enemy. We have been given permission before, but that being said if it is too dry we may have to hold off on the smoke.
Rubber Knives:
However unlikely it is to get a knife kill, please don't go overboard when the opportunity presents itself and be safe. Do not charge into a room with a knife! Knives cannot be used to slash or stab, only tap with the broad side! When sneaking up on someone, do not grab them, throw them down, or attempt to slice their throat with a rubber knife. Instead tap them on the shoulder with the knife and whisper "Knife". When a player is tapped with a knife, they are immediately Dead, but must remain silent and cannot move for 1-2 minutes.
Medic Rules:
We may or may not play with these rules, but I will include them here just in case. Each player will be issued a bandage. Keep the bandage in a pocket or pouch that can be easily accessed. When hit, the wounded player must fall to the ground (or kneel), pull out their own bandage, proceed to yell "MEDIC!" and wait a minute or two for a friendly player to apply the bandage to the wounded player's arm or equipment (not their gun) so that they can return to the battle. If no one saves you, then you must return to base. The bandage cannot be applied by the wounded player on oneself, only another teammate can apply the bandage. When hit for a second time, the wounded player now becomes a Dead Man Walking and must return to base to revive. At the main base, the now revived player can take off the bandage, place it in a secure pocket or pouch, and return to battle. Wounded players cannot communicate enemy positions until they are revived!
I may also incorporate mobile spawn points, but that will be discussed game day.
